Returning campers: You may make a Secure Payment below—we will e-mail you if any additional information is needed.
Remote Camping Option: Another Choice!
We can accommodate up to 25 people at individual campgrounds nearby (less than two miles away). You will pay for your own campsite and the FM Camp program fee is reduced to $100 per day.
Reservations may be made at the Lewis or French Meadows campground. Our program is conducted in the Gates Group campground. Ahart is close but has only 12 sites and is only available on a first-come-first-served basis.
Campers taking this option can attend the full program...fantastic meals, lectures, workshops, yoga, variety shows, hikes, evening campfire, and optional private counseling or bodywork sessions. That's from 6:00AM to 10:00PM. The only thing you wouldn't be able to do is stay overnight. You can walk, bike, or drive back and forth. (You'll want to have proper lighting if you're walking or biking. It is totally dark at night.)

- Ponderosa (site of lecture, dining, kitchen and campfire areas)
- Lodgepole (site of the kid's camp and across from registration)
- Aspen (secluded area, closest to the stream, longer walk to events)
Each campground has a limit (75, 25, 25 respectively) and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. See the Site Map and list the campgrounds in order of preference in the comment field when registering, or send us an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . If you make no selection, we will place you in the campground of our choice. If your campground choice is already filled, we will place you in the next campground on your list.
Partial Stays: Daily attendance is subject to space in the campground; so, contact us in early July to check on availability and costs. If you arrive at camp and there is no space in the campground, you may pay for and attend camp, but you will need to camp in another campground and commute to our campgrounds. The nearest daily campgrounds are a mile or two away.
9-Day Camp—Early Arrival: Those who want a 9-day camp are welcome to come on Friday, July 12 after 1:00 pm and help set up camp or pay an additional fee of $50. This fee will be collected at camp and is waived if you help during set up or during camp.
Reservations: Full payment or a deposit of $100.00 per person is required to reserve a space. Balance is due by July 1, 2013. Note that discounts for full payment apply only if full payment is made by the deadlines listed. If it should become necessary for you to cancel your reservation, see below for cancellation charges.
Work/Exchange: There are a limited number of work exchange positions available for camp. See Work Exchange for information.
Camp Policies: If you haven't read the camp policies, they are reprinted below for your convenience. Review them before signing up for camp. If you have any questions, it is best to ask before driving all the way to camp.

Camp Policies
The following camp rules are listed to help make the camp go smoothly, and are requested by the Forest Service and/or the camp staff. See also the cancellation policy below.
1. Drive 5 mph within camp boundaries. There are children playing and people walking leisurely on the road. Drive slowly for their safety and yours.
2. The campgrounds are reserved for camping only. Our special use permit allows us to charge admission to the camp and to sell items in the store to our members. If you are interested in some activity other than "camping only," please direct your questions to the George Ohsawa Macrobiotic Foundation in writing so that your request may be reviewed by the Board of Directors for consideration. A minimum of 90 days prior before the start of camp is required.
3. There is no selling of goods or services allowed in the National Forest. Exchanging goods or services for money in the National Forest is breaking the law.
4. Camp only within camp boundaries and at least 25 yards (75 feet) from the stream. This assures everyone's enjoyment of the natural beauty.
5. Pets, including dogs, are not permitted within the camp boundaries. If you show up with a dog, other than a registered service animal, or other pet you will be asked to leave.
6. Also prohibited within camp boundaries: smoking, underage drinking, illegal drugs, firearms, soap or shampoo in the stream, rock climbing in the kitchen area, and alcohol at scheduled events. Picking wildflowers is not allowed in the National Forest.
7. Quiet time is 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. This includes radios and CD players at personal campsites as well as the use of bright lanterns.
8. Responsibility. The camp staff does not provide individual care for participants. If you need care, you need to bring your own care giver. Camp reserves the right to limit participation based on individual condition.
9. All engines, other than approved woodcutting equipment, should be off during camp—check with the camp director for reasonable use of RV generators. Cutting live or standing trees and operating chain saws are strictly prohibited.
10. Due to fire danger only two open fire areas are allowed: the kitchen and the evening campfire area. Individual camp stoves and lanterns are permitted however.
11. Keep bear bait (anything aromatic) out of sight and smell and away from tents—the back of the rented truck and bear boxes at Aspen and Lodgepole are available for these items. The bears avoid humans but do like to snack on food left out during the night, for which they have been known to rip tents.
12. Photo/Video—Any commercial use of photographs or videos taken at French Meadows Camp is prohibited without written permission by the George Ohsawa Macrobiotic Foundation. Please let the folks at the registration table if you object to your image being used by the Foundation for promotion purposes.
13. Drink plenty of water. Filtered water is available from the kitchen. Avoid drinking water from the stream. Bring your own bottle or cup for personal use and reserve camp utensils and bowls for dining use.
14. Ask before arriving. If you have any questions about these policies, or any other questions, it is best to ask before driving all the way to camp—call (800) 232-2372 or (530) 566-9765. Having to ask someone to leave is no fun for us, or you.
